saw a sign for this on the road and decided to pop in. so interesting and guy in ticket office so knowledgeable. great place to walk around and the world war 2 history was eye opening and using the area as a tennis court was interesting. well worth a visit.
Kirkham priory is a great historical place to visit. The scenery is amazing. These are beautiful ruins surrounded by great views. I fully enjoyed my visit here. It doesn't matter which season you visit it's always a great day out. Take a stroll down the side of the river. Plenty of wildlife down there. I will be returning again when summer kicks in properly.
Really lovely place to visit, small car park outside and absolutely stunning views from the priory itself. Lovely staff working the day we went. Toilet available and gift shop. Dogs welcome.
Pretty place for a picnic. Parking limited. Nice lady gives a little talk about the area. We have english heritage passes so we saved on entry. I think it was PS9 for an adult . Quite expensive as your not really that long there .
I was a bit disappointed with this site. Had we not been nearby visiting Castle Howard and also members I definitely wouldn't have paid for entry. Little of the priory remains and there is no access to the riverside from the priory. We only managed to fill 20 mins looking around.
Peaceful place to escape for a while, just off the A64 beside the River Derwent, well kept ruins of an Augustinian Priory, ideal for the history buffs.
