Menagerie offering many exotic animals & a petting barn, plus wooded trails, a tea room & gift shop.
We had a lovely few hours here midweek. It was a bit rubbish weather wise so there were a few animals who were a bit shy but we saw plenty. The girls loved seeing the peahen wondering about and we attended the meerkat and lemur feeds which were both led by knowledgeable keepers. My one issue was that several of the disabled parking spaces were taken up by some scrap wood- luckily it wasn't busy so we were able to park but on a busier day it would have been a problem for either myself or another disabled person.
Had a very enjoyable visit to Kirkley Hall Zoo with our granddaughter in the Easter holidays. It has a great variety of animals, birds etc for a small zoo. The outdoor cafe/play area is a pleasant space to sit and enjoy a very reasonably priced coffee and lunch. It is our second visit, especially loved the white peacocks. Open school holidays and weekends.
Visited here on Saturday and had a great time. The kids loved seeing all the animals. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. Food at the cafe was very reasonably priced. Only 30 mins from home we will be back in the summer.
Brilliant small zoo just outside of Newcastle. We were impressed with the range of animals at the zoo and it kept our little one entertained for a couple of hours. We visited here as part of the 'Dad's go free' offer for Fathers Day. Due to the offer, it cost PS8.50 for 2 adults and 1 child (under 2). We pre-booked online so just had to provide our surname when arriving to enter. We visited at 10:30am on a Saturday and the zoo was really quiet. There were some talks on throughout the day which were advertised on walking into the zoo. There is a small children's play area and picnic tables towards to the back of the zoo. There was also a small coffee booth that sold drinks and snacks.
What a lovely little zoo! Took my son (m19) and daughter (f8) and we all enjoyed it. A sudden downpour soaked us to the skin so we left earlier than we'd originally planned but have agreed we will definitely be back. Animals looked well cared for and loved. The enclosures seemed lovely and clean, spacious and all the animals appeared to be happy in them. Car park was a good size to accommodate the number of visitors. Was quite busy inside but still plenty of free parking spaces available. Staff were very friendly. Happy to chat and give you any guidance you required. I would definitely say take a picnic. The food available is very basic (crisps, cookies, sweets plus price list stated sandwiches but I didn't see any) and can only be purchased at the entrance kiosk and a small kiosk in the centre of the zoo. The lack of food was the only reason I gave 4 not 5 stars. If however I'd taken a picnic there were plenty of both indoor and outdoor tables available. There was also a small play area next to the outdoor tables. Yes, it was small but my daughter was happy enough playing on it whilst I enjoyed a latte. Very reasonably priced. A good variety of animals and a great day out. Not open everyday but if you purchase tickets through the website, it is clear to see when it is and isn't open. We visited on late May Bank Holiday Monday (27/5/24). At this time there were 2 baby wallaby's The smallest was still snuggled in mama's pouch whilst the older one was starting to poke it's face out. Unfortunately we didn't get to see it as we'd just started the wallaby walkthrough when the heavens opened and we got soaked, but fingers crossed you'll have more luck with the weather
Great day out . Lovely selection of animals all looked clean, healthy and happy ( despite the rain) would highly recommend.
