This 16th-century chapel is a stunning example of medieval architecture, featuring a striking stone façade, tall stained-glass windows, and a tranquil atmosphere. The chapel's interior boasts intricate stone carvings, ornate tombs, and a beautifully preserved medieval ceiling.
Easy place to find and spend about 30 minutes with the family. Quaint historic Chapel. Sadly, unable to enter the building but still lovely to walk round. Could be a little difficult (slippy and muddy) in the wet.
A must see if you're anywhere nearby. Wonderful display of ancient stones with religious meaning. If you have time, park in the nearby village and take a stroll up the hill. I was lazy, so took the bikeright to the church itself! Should take only 10 or 15 minutes. Site itself is really on a little hill, so take care viewing individual graves as the ground is uneven. Limited parking outside.
What a fantastic site. And a Kirk so remote from anywhere. Stones are preserved behind strong glass, and each has its own details and description. Fantastic read and explanation of this very historic site.
Beautiful location and steeped in history. Stumbled across it by chance. Fascinating place. Lovely little walk.
Surprise at the end of a path. Expected one or two standing stones and then the kirk appears
Visited Kirkmadrine Chapel on our way to Port Logan to see its old lighthouse. Information on the stones and their markings are found on display. A few interesting headstones. We found some jelly ear fungi and a wonderful looking stinging nettle. Lovely walk to the Chapel and one can enjoy a short stroll around the grave yard.
