Knepp Castle Estate is a 19th-century castle situated in West Sussex, England. The estate features a mix of medieval and Gothic Revival architectural styles, with towers, turrets, and battlements. The castle's façade is adorned with intricate stone carvings, while its interior boasts opulent decorations, including ornate ceilings, grand fireplaces, and lavish furnishings. The estate's grounds encompass over 12,000 acres of parkland, woodlands, and farmland, offering scenic walks, horse riding trails, and opportunities for fishing and shooting. Visitors can explore the castle's state rooms, chapel, and gardens, and enjoy special events and exhibitions throughout the year.
We had a wonderful visit to Knepp, with great walks. This rewilding landscape was fascinating to explore; we saw deer, pigs and storks. The walled garden is beautiful. I would highly recommend a safari and the restaurant. We'll definitely be going back.
Visited the re-wilding area for a walk today and thoroughly enjoyed though very muddy, definitely wellies needed. The farm shop has some great produce and the cafe was heaving. May go to a five once I've done a longer walk and if I'm able to get a table to try some food
I love this place. I've never before been interested in pigs, cattle & horses but I am now! August is a very quiet time for wild birds but there are still plenty of the usual suspects about & deer & foxes.
Wonderful quality time with my dear friend Jacqui Shimidzu at the Knepp 3,500 acres rewilding estate in Horsham Sussex. Jacqui wants to 'rewild' the back and front garden at her new home in Forest Hill and wanted some inspiration. We were blown away by just exploring a microcosm of the estate. The transformation achieved attracting wildlife and the regeneration of the landscape ticks every box of what can and should be replicated throughout the UK big time and if you have a garden and want to 'rewild' simples! Via Google 'native seed mixture.' To be inspired this place is so worth a visit.
A fantastic place. First visit and wasn't disappointed. Walked around 9 miles and took in all the views. The Storks were a first for me and worth the visit alone. Bonuses of Nightingale, Turtle Dove, Fallow Deer and numerous other birds made the day memorable. Would highly recommend a visit. Will definitely be returning.
A lovely walk and the estate is beautiful. I'd recommend wellies in the winter as it's too wet for boots and some paths were flooded and unwalkable so had to turn back. Well signposted mostly and even saw a couple of deer and some bunnies. Will be coming back in the drier months.
