The Lake District is England's largest National Park and is now a World Heritage Site, home to Scafell Pike - its highest mountain, Wastwater - its deepest lake and thriving communities like Keswick and Bowness-on-Windermere. The Lake District National Park Authority nurtures and protects the Lake District with help from 24 other organisations.
Lovely to walk around and see the sites. I would really recommend checking out activities before setting out, just to make sure you're not driving to locations and realising the things you want to do are another drive away. But that's my own poor planning. Take a rain coat, take a packed lunch, drink plenty, and enjoy the view
Just magical.. a beautiful place with mountains, lakes and plenty of greenery. It was a bit of a trek for us to get there and if you can cope with windy single lane roads in some places, then it is well worth the visit especially if you like walking, climbing and swimming. We had a great few days there and just felt really relaxed after a few days of walks and rest.
A visit to the Lake District national park is highly recommended. The countryside and the immense variety of the scenery are breathtaking. There are many options for outdoor activities and it is also very attractive to explore the region while cruising on the narrow roads that take you from one lake or valley to the next.
The lakes are one of those wonders of the world. A must experience on the old bucket list. Peaceful and tranquil, yet plenty of excitement for those so inclined. The northern lakes are untouched with more swans gathering in one place than I have even seen. Windermere in the southern lakes is majestic if you take the ferry or hire a boat to the other side of the lake. The experience could not be more rejuvenating.
Lovely area. Beautiful scenery though it was raining most of the days. (went mid-July). So many places to see and explore. Stayed at Keswick Reach Lodges and it was lovely accommodation. Hot tub option also available.
Windermere is a large lake in Cumbria's Lake District National Park, northwest England. It's surrounded by mountain peaks. A lovely lake to visit . Taking off from Lakeside with a Cafeteria, a Steam Train and an Aquarium to visit. Even more better when it's sunny. Various trips and prices to suite
