A serene and picturesque lake nestled in the heart of Wales, surrounded by lush green forests and rolling hills, offering breathtaking scenery, tranquil atmosphere, and a variety of outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, and hiking.
Stunning and so peaceful. As the lake is on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, it's perfect if you want to enjoy a nice moment away from the crowds. There is paid parking near the lake and a beautiful trail around the whole lake. This lake is very suitable for paddleboarding or kayaking, you can bring your own or rent one with the Bethania Adventure. Not far away from here is the Rhiwagor Waterfall. You can take one of the trails to get there.
There are several trails here, the walk around the entire lake is 5.5 miles and there are multiple additional walks. Near the dam there is a cafe, toilets, a wildlife information centre and parking. The hotel is 200m from the dam. Following the path on the left side of the dam near the toilets will lead to a boat house where you can hire canoes or paddle boards to use on the lake, I highly recommend this activity! 10/10 The tower is actually a straining tower which supplies water to Liverpool, this is not accessible.
Beautiful lake with a very impressive dam at the southeastern end, along with a lovely cafe serving excellent food and plenty of parking. It's a long walk around but would also make a great cycle ride or pleasant drive, mostly through woods with some open views across the lake. The "fairytale castle" tower is an interesting architectural addition. The Rhiwagor waterfall at the northwestern end of the lake is stunning and definitely worth the walk to see (additional parking nearby for the waterfall).
Beautiful location for a picnic or a bike ride. roads, cafe's and car parks were all great.
