Lapworth Top Lock is a picturesque canal lock situated on the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal in Warwickshire, England. This lock is the second of six locks in the Lapworth Lock Flight, which raises the canal by approximately 80 feet over a distance of about 1.5 miles. The lock itself is 73.7 feet long, 15.1 feet wide, and has a lift of around 10.5 feet. The surrounding area is tranquil, with lush greenery and walking paths, making it a popular spot for boaters, walkers, and nature enthusiasts alike.
A lovely days walking was made even better to be able to watch barges pass through these locks and those further down towards Stratford. The tow path from here is getting a bit overgrown and the path is uneven. It was dry today so not too bad. I wish there were more rubbish bins as people don't know how to take their rubbish home!
Fabulous walk along the canal. Great to see the flight of locks.
This is an interesting section of the canal with a succession of locks. The towpath is in good order and so it is a pleasant place for a stroll. There are no facilities nearby but Lapworth Church is worth visiting and by extending the walk to Hockley Heath refreshments can be found
A day out on my brother-in-laws boat. We went to the locks. Brilliant day my boys enjoyed opening the locks.
Passing on a narrowboat. Good place to moor and walk the flight. There is a cafe near to the bottom of the flight, close to The Boot Inn Pub, which is not open on a Friday.
Stunning picture perfect. What a wonderful part of the country
