Grassy hill with sheep pasture on top, offering multiple trails to the summit & scenic valley views.
Standing at 368m, Latrigg summit is not one the highest but my word, it has one of the best views in Cumbria. Starting at the free car park it's an easy walk of about 20 minutes to get to the summit. The surface is very well groomed and so it's accessible for almost anyone. Near the top there's a seat which has a view over Keswick. A great photo opportunity. Onwards and upwards... Not far to the top and worth it for the views. Pitch the tent and look towards Derwent and Keswick. Outstanding. The sunset was stunning. The blackness of that particular night I even witnessed a meteor shower. True magic. One of the easiest in the lakes... Get out and do it!
We took the Circular route to Skiddaw from Keswick via Brundholme road to Spooneygreen lane through Latrigg woods which included Latrigg, Little Man and Skiddaw hiking trails rather than just direct to Skiddaw (get to the sign and turn right, not straight up the hill). The views were impressive around Latrigg and if you're lucky you'll be able to see the military jets fly over and through the Mountain valleys. It's a real warm up route to Skiddaw covering more peaks and worth the extra effort.
Stunning and easy hike with not much of an intense incline. (Except the first ten to fifteen minutes from the base) Doable for all ages and fitness levels. The views throughout are absolutely incredible of Keswick and Derwentwater lake. The peak is 368 metres high. Plenty of space to sit down and take it all in along the way. Skiddaw looming over Latrigg really shows you the power and intensity of nature. Doable hike in all climates and seasons of the year.
Lovely hike. Beautiful views from the summit of this 367m high fell. I don't know how it is on other days but when I was there it was very windy. Otherwise lovely hike, for every age suitable. Definitely recommended.
Breathtaking views especially if the sun shines, quite an easy trek and certainly worth it. Lots of pictures and prints of all the well known peaks to be bought in Keswick, they've forgotten Latrigg which is criminal.
Fantastic walk with a rewarding view. Park at "Keswick car park" and find the bridge that crosses the nearby A road, the rest is easy to follow. This walk was said to be family friendly on a website but I wouldn't say it was. Went with a 10 year old and she struggled a lot. I would say beginner-moderate difficulty due to some steep climbs.
