Absolutely wonderful venue. At what can be a very stressful event (weddings) Karen and the team were simply amazing. It felt like myself and my now husband really mattered to them and we simply had the most perfect day. Picturesque, unique and filled with wow factor. Our guests also loved using their very own traditional layer Marney red bus as a fun pick up from Chelmsford station and back. It was simply brilliant. Cannot thank the team enough!
Amazing place steeped in 500 years of history. It was a beautiful sunny day when I visited with my sister which added to the views and the garden walk to see the animals. Had a sit in the courtyard with a cup of tea. Lovely way to spend a few hours. Lovely staff. Must be amazing to have your wedding there!
Stunning Tudor architecture, beautiful gardens and a fascinating dolls' house display. Excellent value for money. Great little tea room in the old stables, and friendly staff. A lovely peaceful day out but watch out for sleeping goats on the drive!
Having provided wedding flowers at this venue we can honestly say it is wonderful. You have the choice of a civil ceremony in their beautiful upstairs space, or a church wedding at their lovely chapel. They also offer both the long gallery with it's historic splendour or their newly renovated barn which is a beautiful space. The stunning staircase of the long gallery is a perfect space for your wedding portraits and confetti through, whilst the tower itself is breath-taking, and photos here are a must. Simply put a gorgeous venue. (Photos of couple - Rachel Reeves)
We went to the Christmas Fair which was fantastic on the Friday. Unfortunately it was cancelled for the Saturday and Sunday as the field for parking had turned into a very muddy bog that no one could get out of. The Fair itself was fantastic with 120 stalls and you could go in the tower and see the exhibition in there.
Lovely historic house, lovely cafe too, but public access is only about 10% of the main building, there is access to the Gallery and Barn, but these are empty, other than looking at the construction of these. We have been before, but wouldn't go again
