A tranquil and picturesque valley nestled in the heart of Sutherland, Ledmore & Migdale boasts breathtaking scenery, with rolling hills, sparkling lochs, and meandering rivers. The area is steeped in history, with ancient brochs, cairns, and other archaeological remains scattered throughout the landscape. Visitors can explore the remnants of 19th-century crofting villages, or take a stroll along the scenic trails that crisscross the valley, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
A lovely set of walks amongst some really beautiful countryside. Fabulous views of both Loch Migdale and the Dornoch Firth. Some steep climbs but clearly marked trails make for a very pleasant day out
A 20 minute walk to get to the loch itself and a longer separate walk to get a great view of the loch from above. I was at the loch on a 25 degrees, sunny day at the start of September, and it was great for a wild swim with the sun heating the top layer of the water and could even see baby trout in the shallows.
Discover a tranquil haven with each walk through these woods, this sheltered Glen seems to have its own micro-climate. Sightings of deer, pine martens, and red squirrels are always possible.
A beautiful nature reserve with good paths, fantastic views and lots of wildlife
A long strenuous walk on the purple route upto the summit but on a clear sunny day it is definitely worth it with brilliant views for miles from the top. I would recommend some decent walking boots on the uneven paths.
Hidden gem! Beautiful walks through woodlands with so much wildlife to see, keep a close eye open for the red squirrel!
