Ligoniel Park is a scenic green space in North Belfast, Northern Ireland, featuring a beautiful lake, walking trails, and plenty of wildlife. The park offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, with its picturesque surroundings and tranquil atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the lake, take in the sights and sounds of nature, or simply sit and relax in the fresh air.
Although it is small compared to some green parks it's a beautiful place. Set high above the city you get awesome views especially up the steps towards the back hills and it's so quiet and peaceful . There's a circle of seats with a story chair , a small orchard with apple/plum/pair trees and countless brambles filled with blackberries for the kids to pick . There is no play park or exercise equipment , It's just a nice wee hidden spot to lose an hour . There are some lanes and tracks that lead out of it towards divis although I can't say there's a direct trail to it .
Great area within a residential area great for locals and visitors alike
Pleasant open space at the foot of the Belfast hills. Good areas of open spaces and small clips of scattered trees. Excellent local resource for exercise rather than as a place to actually go out of your way to visit. But, if you are passing and need to stretch your legs I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.
Ligoniel Park is a wide open space with a pathway to walk on. There is markers on the path to let you know how far you walked or ran. Large grassy area for young ones to play on, football etc. We do have a small problem with youth's under age drinking and smashing some bottles in the park at weekends but we are working with Belfast City Council to work on changes to the park. The park will be cleaned on Monday morning to clean up any mess after the weekend. In Ligoniel Park there is a large woodland area with a fresh mountain stream running through it. There are many different kinds of wildlife and flowers that live and grow all around the park. The pathways will take you up through the woodland and up into the upper fields. The field's offer fantastic views of Belfast City and the Mourne mountains. We'll worth the a visit.
Very nice walk
Well not a bad park to walk around or to sit on a bench and chill. But quite a bit of litter about. It's a small park to just enjoy a short outing.
