Family run rural Camp Site with several cosy glamping options and traditional Scandinavian log cabins.
Liked: We stayed in Conifer Corner which was a lovely quiet area in a beautiful natural setting. The pitch was spacious and surrounded by pine trees. Perfect for our nervous dog. Nice sunny area to sit out in as well as shady spots. Facilities are adequate if a little tired. Great activities for families - play area, den building etc. Good dog walking area and paths to local villages. Managers were very friendly and helpful. Disliked: Lots of dead bugs in the window of one of the toilet cubicles in the ladies which seemed to have been missed in the cleaning process.
Liked: Safe site with enough to do for the smaller children. Good internet signal for the older one. Enough facilities for the camp Clean baby changing facilities It was nice to be able to do a BBQ and fire using the bricks provided. The kids enjoyed den building and wandering round the small wood knowing they weren't far from the tent. But far enough away to feel independent. The bathrooms were how I expected them to be on a camp site, the floor sometimes had foot prints and grass but it would be clean the next time you went in. Showers were warm and decent pressure. Disliked: I would have liked maybe an introduction to the site owners, nothing formal, just a check in to see if we were enjoying our stay. Playground could do with an update, it's not the most sturdy but can see that it has been well loved.
Liked: Beautiful site, so relaxing and quiet. Owners are lovely people, facilities where great. Had a brilliant stay, this has now become our favourite site we have stayed at, and will definitely be looking at returning before it closes at the end of the season. Ground was ideal for camping nice and flat with no stones in the ground for your pegs to hit. Lovely walk in the woods with the dog. Disliked: Nothing
Liked: Wow! What a hidden gem. We had a two night stay on a tent pitch in "conifer corner" at Lincolnshire Lanes. We found the area we were in picturesque with a view of the woodland and quieter than the other fields that catered to larger groups. The site is immaculate and well maintained and the couple who run it are lovely and friendly. We hired a fire pit for our stay (PS25 for 2 nights inc. PS10 refundable deposit and two nets of logs). The site is family friendly but not child centred which is a really lovely balance to strike. As we had children with us we didn't feel on edge that they may disturb others whilst playing but also, it is quiet enough that a child-less party staying wouldnt be disturbed. The site has quiet hours of 10.30-7.30 which were well respected by all. The site is only a small drive from many great attractions and so we will definitely be returning.
Liked: The campsite itself is lovely. The lady who worked in the little shop and her partner were also lovely. Disliked: The owner of the campsite talks to children in an appallingly vile manner. If your child brings a bike or scooter and can ride it faster than 5mph expect them to be spoken to like dirt. Meanwhile some cars are coming and going much faster than 5 mph and nothing is said. A tiny single point water heater to wash pots with, which when it is busy, is in constant use, which means you end up washing pots with cold water. The sinks in the toilets don't have hot water. The showers do have hot water but it is at a cost of 20p for 5 minutes. Although the toilets/showers are clean they are very dated and in desperate need of a revamp. There is a den building area which in theory is a brilliant idea, however, there are limited resources and some children expect their dens to last the whole visit and get upset when others dismantle them to make their own. The parents complain to the owners, then the owners are approaching people advising them to go and apologise rather than telling them everyone gets a turn. The owner also tried to charge us for our own bbq that we had brought. Ultimately if the owners have decided your faces don't fit you will be made to feel unwelcome. We couldn't wait to leave.
My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights over the bank Holiday weekend, it is a lovely little family site, although it does require some TLC the children's play area is looking tired and so is the shower and toilet facilities. They are very small and basic, there is no where in the shower cubicle to put your toiletries, it is also very difficult to get changed in shower as it is so small also in the ladies facilities the hairdryer is in the wrong position right behind the entrance door. There was also no hot water in the toilet blocks at all during our 6 night stay. Some basic updating would help to improve this lovely little site.
