Littlecote Roman Villa is a well-preserved Roman villa located in Berkshire, England. The villa dates back to the 1st century AD and features a range of impressive mosaics, including a famous mosaic depicting a Roman god. The site also includes the remains of a Roman bathhouse, a hypocaust heating system, and a museum showcasing artifacts found during excavations. Visitors can explore the villa's ruins, including the remains of the central hall, bedrooms, and kitchen, and gain insight into the lives of the Roman elite who once inhabited the villa.
Really enjoyed my visit at the beginning of May. The remains of the Roman villa as well as the manor house (Littlecote House) next door are well worth a visit. And to round it all off, a nice pot of tea and cake at the hotel.
Amazing site. One of the best mosaics in the country. There is an audio guide on YouTube which is very helpful as well.
Nice little detour. Mosaic is amazing. If you are struggling to find it on your satnav look fit Warner Hotels Littlehampton Littlecote House as it is on the same site
Easy level access to the Roman ruins. Some areas are set in grassland so wheelchair or pushchair may find difficulty. The site has no admission charge and various information boards around the collection of building foundations explaining the likely history and functions of the layout.
Lovely little place to walk the dog just a shame dogs aren't allowed in the grounds of the house and the cafe
Really well preserved villa with a beautiful mosaic. Wish I had read the previous reviews to head to the hotel as there is no signposts for the villa. However we were very shocked to be told we could not have a cup of tea and a cake in the hotel as they had a strict no children policy. My son was the one who had asked to visit the villa so was hardly a screaming toddler !
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
