If you like the darker side of history this is a must see! I could have spent hours reading all the info on everything from serial killers to the KKK. You get to learn about a side of history that most people want to forget or overlook. The selection of taxidermy exhibits are amazing and unique as well as serial killer memorabilia and photos I've never seen online or in books. It's definitely not a place for a sensitive soul or kids! 100% recommend a visit but just be prepared to be faced with some abrasive subjects!
Well worth the PS10. Visited with my family and while it wasn't as we were expecting it was very informative on how views of crimes have changed. Please note that there are extremely graphic images (old and present) of murder scenes, terrorist organisations and self murder (not sure if the s word is allowed on a review). My 17 year old brother didn't seem too fussed with the graphic material but this definitely isn't appropriate for younger kids. Please note there is a lot of nudity and graphic imagery around the entire building and those that are squeamish should not go.
I visited here on Saturday after watching dark tourist on netflix it became somewhere I then added to the bucket list and it didn't disappoint. There is quite a large variety of things to see to the point it's overwhelming a little and there is no way I could fully take it all in but I do recommend if your into dark tourism or just interested in seeing something dark and different that you will never see anywhere else then this is the place. Not suitable for children or people who get offended as the warnings state on the website and at the entrance and some of it can be upsetting and disturbing. I am really interested in finding out what was the first thing the owner bought to start this personal journey and collection as it is no doubt a fascinating story. *Edit thanks so much to the owner for the reply to my question it's much appreciated
Echo the advice - "not suitable if easily offended". We were a group of 3, non-offended people. Amazing place, so eclectic and superb collections. 2.5 hours was nowhere near enough time to see it all but we had a long journey home, so will have to go again. Loved it.
Been wanting to visit Littledean Jail for a while now. Some really unique and interesting things in there but also a lot of random newspaper clippings - almost too much as I became as bit 'poster blind' to it all. Some really quite morbid and explicit stuff so not for the easily offended although this is clearly stated before entering so you are warned!
Stomach-churning and thought-provoking. Just WOW. There was so much to read - every single inch of this two-storey place has information or an exhibit - so I focused on the things I remembered in history lessons and news stories, else I'd drown in all of the detail. Seeing everyday artefacts from murderers' houses or their handwritten letters made their activities feel very real and not just a "clinical news item".... it felt a bit of an assault on the senses of where you stand on dealing with crime, violence, hatred, justice, vigilantiism, policing.... I was also grateful to see (truly awful) things for myself with no censorship... to be treated as an adult to explore these dark topics with my own eyes and no mollycoddling... and make no mistake quite a bit of it is VERY uncomfortable, but that's the point. Pretending these sort of acts don't happen is a mistake, unfortunately, and it's important to be informed.
