A small, unassuming railway station in northwest Wales, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch Station is famous for having the longest place name in Europe. The station sign, which displays the full name of the station, has become a popular tourist attraction, with visitors flocking to take photos in front of the iconic sign.
We went to Greenwood family park but I wanted to visit here on the way back to our hotel. Only a ten minute drive from Greenwood to James Pringle Weavers (where the station sign is situated) and wow what a great shop. Every sweet you could imagine and lots of other lovely gift and treats with a lovely restaurant at the back. Two coach loads of people were here taking photos so it proves to be a popular little spot. Would 100% recommend. Wasn't overly busy when we came on a Saturday.
Iconic sign with the world's longest town name on it. Currently in August 2024 it is covered in scaffolding and not able to be photographed well. There is however an alternative sign on the station platform and a similar sign on the gift shop nearby.
Made a quick stop off on our way home, to see what all the fuss was about. Had a little look round and got the standard photo with the sign. Visited the gift shop next door. The shop was great for little gifts with Wales written on them, sweet, rock and also has a clothing section and a few other gifts. Cafe at the back of the shop is well worn, food is basic but good. Had a cup of tea and a sausage roll, can't complain. Definitely worth a stop
No doubt this town's name is the longest in the world. Good place for photo taking, souvenir shopping, toilet break and some refreshments. Free parking too.
Visited this place as it's a bit of a must visit place if you're on Anglesey bit disappointed as the station office is covered in scaffolding but the large James Pringle shop in the carpark is well worth a visit great selection of most things all reasonably priced
Interesting place. It's in a parking lot so you can just park for like 5 minutes just to take a picture with the sign. Or, there's also a nice shop in the same area
