A scenic country park and reservoir situated in the heart of Carmarthenshire, Wales, offering picturesque views, walking trails, and a variety of wildlife. The reservoir, which is the largest in Carmarthenshire, provides opportunities for fishing, boating, and other water sports. The surrounding countryside is dotted with ancient monuments, including the remains of a 12th-century castle and a Bronze Age burial chamber. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely walk around the reservoir, take in the stunning scenery, and learn about the area's rich history and heritage at the on-site visitor centre.
We came here for the 7km walk. The park was easy to find and it was well signposted from the road. There is plenty of parking, toilets, a small shop and a cafe. For parking, you park up and pay at the machine by the cafe before you leave - it calculates your fee by your registration plate and you can pay by card. It had been good weather when we went and the paths were dry. It is a bit steep in places, but the downhills are nice! It was a lovely walk, although we had expected to have a little more time walking by the water. Instead the walkers path went on the outer track, with the inner track being used by cyclists. However the walkers path was very quiet. Overall it was a lovely place to walk and well worth the short drive from Haverfordwest where we were staying. There is also a little play park for children by the cafe.
Beautiful country park with a gift shop and immaculate cafe on site. Staff in the shop were brilliant, excellent customer care which we don't get often enough nowadays. Lovely cafe serving the usual hot and cold drinks and snacks. The park and reservoir has a series of walks of different lengths and difficulty. We did the bottom end by the dam, around to the church and commemorative gardens. Everywhere is so well maintained and very clean, all for a PS3 car park fee, should be commended for giving such service
This place is superb! Not only is it a peaceful and beautiful place to walk around with the dogs, it has a dog friendly visitor centre and cafe, a dog agility course where they can go off lead, archery, climbing area, a new campsite, fishing and land and water activities hire eg paddleboards, kayaks and bikes. Or, you can bring your own equipment for paddleboarding and pay a launch fee. Take time to visit the little church in the grounds and the memorial garden. First hour parking is free but I think paid PS3 for the day which is a bargain! The walk around there is deceiving so take refreshments with you. There are picnic benches dotted around the 7.5 mile walk. Enjoy!
Beautiful place with great walks. Excellent cafe and small shop. Toilets really clean. Parking charge is currently free for girls hour then single charge of PS3 for the day.
