The Local History Society is a museum showcasing the rich history of the region, with exhibits on archaeology, industry, and social history. The museum features a collection of artifacts, photographs, and documents that tell the story of the area's development and the people who lived there. Visitors can explore exhibits on topics such as the Roman occupation, the Industrial Revolution, and the impact of war on the local community. The museum also offers a research library and archive, where visitors can access historical records and conduct their own research.
This place just gets better and better and the fact it is free is a major bonus. It's great to take a step back in the past and see what it was like back in the days. I wish they had some recordings or video of the past to show visitors. It would be more interactive. There are so many displays from cinema, sports, police, statues, war etc. I was highly impressed with the place and displays.
The museum itself is beautifully presented and very informative but I had the absolute pleasure of spending an hour or two with the stewards. Their stories, knowledge, and charming personalities provided me with an incomparable afternoon. This building will now have a place in my heart and I can't wait to revisit
The leatherhead Museum / Local history society contains a nice variety of local history and information about the area. I came in here a while ago to find out some information about another business on the high street and how it developed over the years and they were able to provide photos and information. If you are looking for historical information about the town, this is the place to go. The Staff are friendly and helpful and always a pleasure to talk to.
