A hill in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Longlands Fell rises to 418 meters (1,371 ft) and offers stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Its slopes are covered in heather and bracken, with rocky outcrops and scenic valleys. The fell is a popular spot for hiking and walking, with several trails leading to the summit. On a clear day, the views from the top stretch as far as the Lake District and the Pennines.
This was the first Wainwright of the day and another four were to follow. Longlands is the place however to have a glance at what lays ahead. Beautiful spot!
This was the first on my walk and a lovely start. It's a long climb up a grassy slope from the lay-by. Lovely views of the surrounding mountains.
It's an outlying fell of the Wainwright variety.I like it here because of the solitude. But I saw 8 people today.Still worthy of the 6 mile plod around these fells though.
And you have made it round. Pat yourself on the back and get ready to make a beeline straight down to the road on a continuous steep drop, on a small but easy to follow path. Before this savour the journey just made, secure this one in your bag of Wainwrights and look around at the views before they disappear on the rapid descent. Well done for making it round!!!
It was a great location to view the walk I did. Other than that, fairly anonymous fell
Lovely views. A great little fell.
