A hill in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria, England, with an elevation of 552 metres (1,811 ft), offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, including the Helvellyn range and Thirlmere reservoir.
Absolutely amazing views and worth the trek. You can see the sea in the direction of Workington, Keswick town centre and Bassenthwaithe lake
Huffing and puffing your way through the boggy ground from Barf you rise to sit on the Lord's Seat. Wave to the Scottish neighbours or spin round for a majestic view of Lakeland. And tick off another Wainwright. From here Broom Fell can be seen calling you, go and add it to the collection.
Lovely hill. Like it because there are so many various routes to the summit
Brilliant views all the way to Scotland
I was here for an Amateur Radio SOTA Activation which went well as I managed the complete activation on VHF which was just as well as my HF operation only managed a single contact. The walk up from Whinlatter Visitor Centre which I have revised elsewhere took about an hour and wasn't too strenuous. The view was really good over Basenthwaite Lake
Beautiful views from the summit.
