This reserve is a haven for wetland wildlife, featuring a mix of freshwater and brackish habitats, including reedbeds, saltmarsh, and mudflats. The site is particularly important for its breeding avocets, and other notable bird species such as bearded tits, marsh harriers, and bitterns. The reserve's trails and hides offer visitors opportunities to observe the wildlife without disturbance, while the on-site visitor centre provides information and insight into the reserve's unique ecosystem.
Good car park the first part is nicely set out more like a park the further you go out the more old reclaimed industrial it gets great place for our dog he loves it lots of paths and routes to follow and quieter than the flashes on the other side of the road
Didn't expect this nice little walk trail here, often visit to get a breather and a little walk to clear the mind, I know there's better places, but if your local then it's worth it.
Lovely place to walk! (If it has been raining bring wellies!) Lots of boards with information on including about the old station on the land. There was not a lot of parking but the car park was near enough empty on a Saturday so wasn't an issue. Dropped a star for the amount of litter in some areas of the lake which was a shame.
A nice short walk around the trail though unfortunately several trees are uprooted and crossing part of the footpath and many other areas. It's as though it's unkempt, maybe due to limited or no funding. Good size car park. Handy for a short walk.
First time visiting here and me and the family really enjoyed it, the paths have been well maintained so made it easy to walk around. There is quite a few benches around and near the main pond they have a couple of picnic benches. The swans and ducks there seemed really friendly and we managed to hand feed 2 of the swans. Spent around 3 hours there and still feel like we haven't seen all this place as to offer.
Beautiful place , very peaceful pram and wheelchair friendly. No toilets . If your lucky you might see a deer . Look for the carvings and the fairy doors . You can't buy food here but a few picnic benches and normal benches take your own .
