At Lower Hill Campsite, your host Rita has created a welcoming haven of pitches for tents and caravans, plus a stunning variety of glamping accommodation for your relaxing breaks. From the fire pits of crackling logs and wood burning stoves, to the wood fired hot tubs that complement the glamping accommodation, you can be sure of the warmth of welcome.
Had a few days off, so decided to treat ourselves to a break at lowerhill campsite as we could take our dog (prior arrangement required) upon arriving the first things that we saw were the absolute amazing views. We were greeted by the owner Rita who explained that although it is a campsite they also cater for caravans and have several lodges and that it is a fully animal working farm. We were staying in the Caradoc Lodge which has its own hot tub as do all the lodges. BBQ equipment was also available upon request. The lodge itself was beautifully presented and clean with our own outdoor sitting area. Barbara (Rita's mom) came and chatted to us stating places of interest to visit one being a 5 minute drive Much Wenlock a lovely historic town with its own museum and were the Olympics began and several films made there. Hubby spent a couple hours fishing at one of the campsite pools while I read some of the history books I had brought from the museum, our dog was asleep by the side of me peacefully. Being woke up by just the wildlife and farm animals made a very pleasant change to traffic noise. Eating our breakfast outside which we had brought from Rita's honesty shop, (all local products and eggs from the chickens at the farm was perfect. Whilst there the maintenance people were assembling another lodge so asked if I could have a little tour around it wow the workman put into the lodge was so impressive so much so I asked Rita to book us in for July, can't wait. Thank you so much Rita and Barbara for our truly wonderful stay at Lowerhill campsite. Anyone else wanting to get away place which is quite, peaceful and includes amazing British views go to Lowerhill Campsite you will not be sorry
An absolutely beautiful oasis of farmland, greenery and relaxation. |There was plenty of space to pitch our tents, immaculate bathroom facilities and a cute little honesty shop.|Rita, the farmer, told us all about her sheep and her gorgeous working dogs. She was a joy to chat to.|There's a fishing pond on site and a collection of funny goats by the glamping pods.|The site is surrounded by woodland and a walk in to Much Wenlock takes 90 minutes, if you have wandering feet.|I'd thoroughly recommend this place and will be visiting again.
What a beautiful place!|We stayed in one of the round houses. It was spacious, clean and had everything you would need, including a welcome pack, which is a lovely touch. The grounds are lovely. It is a working farm and the animals wake a little earlier than we would normally, but this just added to the experience. We visited Bridgnorth and Ironbridge while we were there, both in easy driving distance. We had a great time and would definitely recommend. Would get hot tub next time as they looked good. Also take bug spray as there are lots about.
This place has been amazing over the weekend. The owner is lovely to. Its our first caming trip in a very long time. Our car battery went flat and my daughters car got stuck in a ditch. (Questionable driving) but the lady that owns the site was lovely about it and helped us out both times. The views are awesome the atmosphere on site is brilliant. If they will have us back we will definitely be staying again. Facilities are well looked after to.
Just arrived home from a lovely week camping at Lower hill campsite. It really is a gem of a place! Amazing value for money, clean and well kept. Rita is super responsive to messages and really friendly. We really didn't want to leave. Can't wait to go back!
We stayed in the Bullrush over the weekend. A great off the grid experience, Rita has thought of everything. This was our first time staying off the grid and we thoroughly enjoyed it. All your wood is included in the price to heat the hot tub and there's enough for campfires too. Bottled water is also provided. The welcome pack is a lovely touch, a bottle of fizz, packet of biscuits and marshmallows. Toilet roll, hand wash, cleaning products, tea towel, kitchen roll, tea, coffee and sugar were all included too. The bed was so comfortable, we had the best nights sleep. The stay was so peaceful as it is in a secluded spot away from the main ccampsite. Surrounded by fields with sheep, goats and cows. We hardly saw anyone else. We did have a little visit from the goats who decided to escape the field and join us, this added to the experience and was interesting to see them being mischievous. Rita was quick to send Stuart down to round them up back to their field. You are right by the fishing pool if you enjoy fishing. My husband caught roach, rudd, golden shinner and small carp. Nice selection of small fish. There is a table bench and a bistro set for your use also. Overall an excellent experience, would definitely recommend and will be back. |I think the only thing I would say is if you don't like sleeping flat maybe take a couple of extra pillows.
