A 17th-century textile mill turned museum, showcasing the region's industrial heritage with exhibits on spinning, weaving, and printing, featuring original machinery and interactive displays.
There's nothing like a bit of history to enhance a winter walk! In lovely surroundings & would be great place to sit & be with nature in summer. The mill remains give a real sense of the building that was an important feature from the 1700s and it's a good walk with pathways & not much having to trudge through muddy fields. It's a very short walk from car park so perfect for those just wanting a light exercise in a lovely spot with a feature of local history.
A great place for a walk along hard surfaces, if required. Ideal in damp or wet conditions. Handy parking - either pay and display in Kem Mill car park or free in the small car park at the junction with the A6. An interesting part of the local history can be seen here. The walk through the valley along the river Lostock is very pleasant. If you keep going, there is the reward of a cafe.
Lovely walk to the mill ruins, story board giving the history of the mill and still able to see the old building footprints. Worth visiting and carrying on the walk to take in all the surrounding area
Had lunch stop here. The site was formerly a dyeing and printing works for cloth produced in nearby weaving mills
Great piece of history, lots of structure still intact and good information boards.
