We visited the house, walled garden, church and had lunch and an ice cream at the coach house cafe. We didn't realise there is a smaller car park near the house so parked in the main car park next to the children's play park - none of the parking machines were working. The Coach House Cafe has a bog standard menu - sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc - but nicely done and the staff were very friendly and helpful. There's outdoor seating on both sides of the building - bench seating - and both sides are wheelchair accessible. The house museum is all on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. There are accessible loos in the house, in the Coach House Cafe and by the children's play park (but these were very grotty). The walled garden is wheelchair accessible and clearly an early summer garden as there was very little in flower when we visited in early August but they had a great collection of apple trees. It's not a kitchen walled garden - instead there are flowers and apple trees around 4 lawns. The church is wheelchair accessible but you can't get everywhere - just up and down the main aisle. The children's play park and the nearby cafe are understandably very busy and noisy, but the area near the house etc is much quieter and calmer.
Lovely place. So green and clean with a small pond filled with ducks and swans. A really calm place for a relaxed picnic. Kids played football and we visited the historic estate with what seemed to be an exclusive tour (go on a weekday). It's the family favorite picnic spot now.
Park is nice, green, full of nature. There is a beautiful lake, dense jungle walk and running/ walking tracks. Pets running around too. An old residency building which is now a hotel and restaurant. A small play area, rest rooms, ice cream shop, tree rope-climbing game zone. There is no free parking and parking app takes 0.30PS extra to mentioned on the machine. Parking machine always out of order. Misery to the parking. Sometimes there are fun and sports for the children activities. Funfair is in summer or holiday seasons.
We had a wonderful morning here. There's lot's of free parking which is easy to find. The cafe by the carpark has lots of choice and nice cakes. The house is well presented and has an audio description in each room, which makes it easier to understand. Had a chilled time in the walled garden, it's not the most well maintained but has some interesting plants and lots of benches.
Great park that has flat accessible footpaths throughout and some off the beaten track walks, pockets of wildlife- horses, swans and ecology features lake and plenty off tree canopy. also has some permanent bbq stations Good value cafe at the end of your walk.
Points to note: * Parking is adequate at best, so please make sure you have plenty of time to look for a place. But wardens are very nice and helped us with directions to Event after we parked the car. * A lovely Easter Egg Trail event. Lovely staff, pleasant atmosphere and great guided start. The clear weather made it one of the best things to do for Easter Sunday in a long while. Trail took us to all around the Park, kids filled in the provided egg hints paper and was very well worth it. * The House museum is highly recommended, the rooms and the button-operated commentary was a good educational experience for all. * The little Tea Room next to Trail was pretty cramped and was told only when I reached the counter that there was a further 20 minutes delay, and that was after a 20 minute wait in the queue, so I recommend to bring with you some drinks/snacks for kids. * Kids play area in the middle of the Country Park is well equipped for young children. Definitely recommend you to visit it, but please do plan ahead and give ample time for parking if driving here.
