A picturesque beach with a long stretch of sand and pebbles, backed by a promenade lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. The beach offers calm and clear waters, perfect for swimming, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and explore the nearby historic town of Lyme Regis, famous for its fossil finds and connections to Jane Austen's novel "Persuasion".
The beach was a little busy ... no surprises there. This is a quintessential British seaside resort . If you have never visited you don't know what you have missed . If you like the quiet life , avoid the high season . Staying just out of the town , can save you a load of money , and there are a lot of little villages around with either Airbnb or small hotels .
Busy even in January! A lot of pubs by the beach front. Meaning a lot of drinking and intoxicated people next to the beach. NOT GOOD! Nice beach though pebbly bits and sandy bits. Nice for all ages. Shame about the alcohol nearby, spoiled what would be a lovely place.
Typically British seaside lovely ice cream from Lucy's
Plenty of car parking in centre of Lyme Regis, one we parked in was PS3.00 for 2 hours, free after 6pm. If have disabled badge get an additional hour parking for free. Public Toilets right opposite, close to shingle beach, cafes, bars, restaurants and shops including fossil and crystal shops. Quite a steep hill for shops, did not need to go up, so not sure what shops there were. Sat at nice cafe overlooking beach, watch out for seagulls though, they like pinching your chips.!!!
There's a great sandy beach down one end, lots of nice restaurants on the sea front and plenty of parking. We had a lovely family day out!
Down the one end is a nice sandy beach. Plenty of places for food . Visited in December and at that time dogs are allowed on the beach.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
