This charming heritage centre is located in a beautifully restored 19th-century Sunday School building in the heart of Lymm village. The centre showcases the history and heritage of Lymm and its people through a range of exhibits, displays, and interactive activities. Visitors can explore the village's industrial past, its role in the English Civil War, and its significance as a major crossing point on the Bridgewater Canal. The centre also features a recreated Victorian street scene, a collection of vintage photographs, and a research area where visitors can delve into their family history.
A volunteer run centre with lots to interest locals and visitors. Very professional displays which change regularly through the year. I love the Dinosaur, but a wealth of history is uncovered about Lymm and the environs. Tucked away just next to the community centre, opposite the Brewery Tap (CAMRA award winning pub). Lots of interesting books and guides to purchase, very much on the "Things to see in Lymm" list.
What a fantastic find! Interesting, done very well and free. Nice cards for sale too. Lovely staff.
What a wonderful experience, so knowledgeable and extremely helpful gentleman!!!! Really got more than we bargained for. Lots of information, answers to questions and more. Fantastic place....the best ever!!!! Well done!!!
What a hidden gem, didnt realise it was there until very recently, and really glad we found it. We have been back since with a relative, and have recommended it to whoever listens! Very informative, well-laid out displays and boards, excellent hands-on information for young people, which is excellent, and really helpful volunteers who try really hard to supply info, if they don't immediately have it. Excellent. Thank you all.
We moored our narrowboat on the canal less than 100 yards from the Heritage Centre, and what a little gem this place is. We always make for information and history centres whenever we moor in a new place to try and learn as much as we can about it. This place has lots of information and history, and two friendly ladies there to answer questions and share insights. Because we live on the canals we are particularly interested in the Bridgewater Canal history, and this place didn't disappoint.
Great place to visit, interesting exhibitions on local trades and industries including fustian cutting and gold beating - there's even a dinosaur ! Wonderful collection of old photographs too that are a great talking point.
