Extensive timber forest with wild deer, reservoir lakes & trails for walking & horse riding.
I have been hiking, mountain biking here in Macclesfield Forest for 30 years, and it never gets boring, beautiful bit of the Peak District on my doorstep
Went for a hike up Shutlingsloe - absolutely beautiful went during the week and whilst it was windy and rainy for a bit of it got to see the most incredible double rainbow at the top of Shutlingsloe!
Such a fun day out! Gorgeous location and easy enough hikes (still challenging but not deathly lol)
Great place to walk. Parked at the main car park pay and display. Very busy but we managed to get a spot. Walkedup the North Bank to the top. Views across the reservoirs and forest were spectacular in autumn colours. Would highly recommend.
Such a nice walk. You can take an easy walk around the reservoir or for the more adventurous climb up to the top and admire the amazing views. There are plenty of places to park for free. Toilets in the nearby pub by the reservoir or there is a hut with loos and parking at the foot of the forest.
Great walk, we did the blue route which was steep in places, so probably not the most accessible to all! Car parking at Trentabank car park; or on road. If you do use the car park is it coins only and doesn't give change. PS4.00 for up to 4 hours. PS4.75 all day.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
