This museum showcases a vast collection of maritime artifacts, exhibits, and interactive displays that tell the story of the maritime history of the Isle of Man and its people. The museum is housed in a historic warehouse that dates back to the 19th century and features a range of galleries that explore different aspects of the island's maritime past, including its shipbuilding industry, its role in the British Empire, and its connections to the sea. Visitors can explore exhibits on shipwrecks, lighthouses, and the island's lifeboat service, as well as learn about the lives of sailors, fishermen, and other maritime workers. The museum also features a collection of boats and vessels, including a restored 19th-century yacht and a traditional Manx fishing boat.
The Maggie Law Maritime Museum is a wonderful wee museum in Gourdon full of history and local stories, like the Maggie Law, Cutty Sark and the Titanic Links where John Cargill was a crewman of the Carpathia who rescued Titanic survivors. The curator was a lovely man who was great to talk to about fishing and history, I grew up in Buckie and it was lovely talking to someone who knew about the former Buckie Drifter museum we have, and made me extremely happy seeing the Maggie Law Maritime Museum preserved with her rich history.
