A picturesque weir on the River Wye, featuring a series of gentle cascades and tranquil pools, surrounded by lush greenery and walking trails, offering a serene and idyllic atmosphere.
Maisemore Weir is very interesting to visit when Severn Bores are forecast. These occur throughout the year on the highest spring tides. They are at their best around the spring and autumn equinox. The bore itself in not great here. When it hits the weir it bounces back. The water then continues to rise until the tide overtops the weir. At this point the noise of the weir stops, and a sudden silence descends. The effect is quite magical.
Beautiful walk. Lovely little bench to sit on. Lovely scenery.
