The Malcolm Monument is a striking 44-meter-tall (144 ft) concrete tower located in Bonnybridge, Falkirk, Scotland. It was built in 1975 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Falkirk District Council. The monument's design is inspired by the Antonine Wall, a historic Roman wall that once ran across Scotland. The tower's shape is reminiscent of a giant Roman milestone, with a rectangular base, tapering to a pointed top. Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Returned home to Langholm a place I left in 1971 and made the trek up the Whita hill to the monument with my family. Will always hold this place in my heart. Nothing like the Langholm water straight out of the Whita Well. Next time will have to be back on a horse for the Common Riding for a 50 year anniversary ride.
Great views out to the Solway Firth and Lake District on a clear day. Track up to the monument is dry under-foot. Interesting sculpture near the small car park.
Lovely open space 360 s view point over looking the town of Langholm and the surrounding Border hills. Outdoor recreational area quiet space with dark skies potential for viewing the sky at night,
Swietny widok we wszystkie strony. Today we meet rain over there. Likely only 15min. From top parking it's about 0.5h walk to the obelisk.
Amazing walk for trekking lovers. Beautiful landscapes. I was delighted.
Great walk up bit rough coming down in the snow.
Good for kids
