Registered charity & museum run completely by unpaid volunteers about the domestic and social history of Maldon, the District and its people. 2022 saw the 100th anniversary of there being a museum in Maldon. Volunteers at the Museum can also accommodate and conduct research projects that anyone from the public may have on demand and on their behalf by searching through the Museum's Collections and archives.
For a small museum, there is so much interesting information packed in it. Spent a very enjoyable hour in here, well worth visiting
There's a lot packed in, and it contains some wonderful pieces of history and pictures from Maldon past. Well worth a visit.
Brilliant town museum, so good to keep this up, with local items and a general things from the past, it's free to enter, but please give generously, as they get no support from elsewhere, other than the building, I'm sure you know how expensive electricity is Lol
Lovely museum, lots of interesting information, and very friendly people :)
Lots to see and lots for children to do such as a guide quiz, miniature fossil excavation and arts n crafts activities. A fascinating insight into Maldon's social history and the working lives of the people who lived there. Exhibits include the history of Maldon's Volunteer Fire Brigade during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, Maldon's maritime links and fishing trade, the railways in Maldon with scale model and much more!
I volunteer there, so it's got to be five stars! Closing for the winter on 12 November - opening again Easter 2024
