Large collection of railway memorabilia, rolling stock, locos, original station buildings and much, much more. Passenger train runs on all days that the museum is open.
A great place to visit if you enjoy exploring old railway engines, carriages and rail related memorabilia. It's a working restoration place too, so you can see what's going on. Kids will love it too if they like climbing on things. You can even get a short ride in a carriage, towed generally by heritage diesel.
We loved our day out there, and the fact that you can go inside of many carriages. Museum has loads of interesting, unique items. Definitely recommend!
Very interesting day out. We went on the day that Rick Wakeman unveiled the name plate on the Radio Caroline Locomotive. We then had a train ride, with Rick Wakeman driving it. Great museum, absolutely loads of items and railway memorabilia, more than York museum. A chap called Robin French was very informative throughout our visit. Definitely worth a visit.
Well enjoyed the visit. Lots of exhibits/trains to look at. Train ride was enjoyable. Was good to get up close to the trains and carriages to explain to the kids how things worked. Staff friendly and pleasant. Will visit again.
A great day out for the general enthusiast to the family. Family run private collection of railway memorabilia and rolling stock. Some of the rolling stock is the last examples left. a worthy visit for anyone. Friendly service, a cafe area. A true hidden gem that should not be left to the visiting tourist.
Visited today with my young son. A gentleman named Robin took us around most of the museum and was kind and patient with my little boy (who was moving from one train to the next at speed!) Very happy to recommend Mangapps - while it's not a 'huge' museum, it's plenty big enough with lots of interactive exhibits to go in for a 2-3 hours visit.
