Summer weekend tours of a medieval country house with a 15th-century water mill that stills works.
Really beautiful historic site. Well worth a walk around the grounds. The mill is really remarkably. We went on the boat and enjoyed that as well. The tea house was a nice break with very good cakes.
Nice place to visit. The house has an interesting history, with an eclectic mix of objects and some good paintings. However access is limited to less than ten rooms. The location is lovely with lots of space to walk and picnic.
I was there many times during the making of the film. (1977?)A number of 'village houses were erected (frontages only) , the waterwheel was repaired and put in working condition.Met Micheal Caine and other actors when off set. Also spent a Many a sunny day there afterwards, swimming in the Thames.
A lovely place with a lot of interesting history. Its not massive but the collection makes a nice afternoon out. There are regular food festivals and historic events. It makes a beautiful setting for weddings with the church next door.
Excellent WWII re-enactment day June 2018Now no longer happening due to sale of the house and totally disinterested owners.
Went there to do a half marathon. Single track road to get to it was awkward but very nice views.
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
