This picturesque walk takes you through a tranquil woodland valley, following the gentle flow of the River Maspie. The path winds its way alongside the river, offering serene views of the surrounding forest and the soothing sound of running water. As you stroll, the scenery builds up to a breathtaking crescendo: the stunning Maspie Den Waterfall. This natural wonder drops 30 feet into a rocky gorge, creating a misty veil that rises into the air. The roar of the waterfall grows louder, and the atmosphere becomes more dramatic, making this a truly unforgettable experience.
Great place for a walk, lots of different paths can be taken. The main route to the two waterfalls is clearly marked although the route back less so but still easy and we didn't get lost! The circular walk is about 2.2 miles and not too difficult.
We had a great time walking to the waterfall. Some bits were a bit muddy but we were able to get round the worst bits. Hiking boots not necessary. We bought lunch in thd village and ate it at the tree stumps just before the tunnel, near the school.
What a great day we had. It's absolutely an amazing place, lots of nice bridges and stunning waterfalls. Great walk.
Lovely walk, done as part of a circular from Falkland which covers the peak of East Lomond. Paths are well maintained and the main waterfall is beautiful. Much to be seen on your way along. Stables cafe isn't too far away for an ice cream or a coffee too.
Very pretty area with many trails that intertwine and go up along the river. You can take a different path down, so the whole trip can be done as a loop. There is a fair bit of rubbish on the ground sadly. Saw a few bins around tho, so people are lazy! There are many bridges and stone tunnels which make it a fun place. There is a charity cafe next to the carpark which has toilets for customers. Nice little menu. Nice that you can bring your dog to walk on a leash with you. The carpark is free too. :) Close to the town too.
Lovely woodland walk. Lots of steps and uneven ground but beautiful scenery. The bridges and engineering that have been put into this woodland walk are wonderful and something I wish we still did. Definitely worth the effort.
