A gorgeous place for a monument. Beautiful views all around. It's very easy to get to, with space for 3 cars to park at the bottom of the steps, and more parking if you fancy a short walk. You can see the otter from the bottom of the little hill, and to get up is around 15-20 steps. Never busy.
A good walk from Monreith along the stoney beach then up onto the cliff top to reach the monument. There are good coastal views and across to the Isle of Man. At low tide you can walk across the sand. Coming into Monreith from Port William park by the bus stop and take the path down to the shore.
Cute creature above the beach. Lovely atmosphere and no wonder it Maxwells place of choice! Even found cup and ring marks too!!
Lovely place to visit if your in the area. I didnt know who he was so had a Google, interesting stuff. Nice views all around. There is only space for one car in the small carpark opposite the steps to the monument though so you may have to park at the golf club a short distance away and walk up the hill if the space is taken.
Great place for a stop on the drive north from Whithorn as the views are fantastic and pics with the otter are mandatory , not much parking space provided , may squeeze in 2 at a pinch but its only a small walk uphill to the small statue
Had a great time here - we arrived just before sunset, and had a picnic at the edge of the cliff, overlooking the sea, joined by our new friend, the otter statue! Perfect, picturesque, and very serene :) no parking, so we just pulled up in a lay by at the entrance.
