This 45-acre nature reserve features a variety of habitats, including woodland, grassland, and wetlands, providing a haven for local wildlife. The reserve has several walking trails, including the 1.5-mile Mayland Way, which offers scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can spot a range of bird species, including kingfishers, herons, and birds of prey, as well as mammals like deer and foxes. The reserve also has a pond, a sensory garden, and a community orchard, making it a peaceful and educational destination for nature lovers.
A nice little walking route. Holden Walk named after my grandparents Alec & Miriam Holden who lived in Mayland since 1970s and made many contributions to its development.
Easy to miss the entrance between the houses but not a bad little spot for a quick wander. It was quiet and calm when I visited. There are a couple of little paths through the trees and there are picnic benches in the small clearing.
Interesting, needs more people to know about it. Could do with some volunteers to help clear the stream out and have a deeper pond for it encouraging kingfishers back.
Tucked away between houses but has alot for nature lovers. Tables for picnic
Nice walk in the country side
Hidden gem
Wheelchair-accessible car park
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
