This former sand quarry has been transformed into a haven for wildlife, with its disused pits now filled with water and surrounded by woodland, grassland, and wetland habitats. The reserve is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including rare plants, birds, and insects. A network of footpaths and trails allows visitors to explore the site, taking in the scenic views and spotting the reserve's many inhabitants.
Amazing place to have a nice walk, has a good size car park which is free and 2 bird hides. No dogs aloud thought. Worth a visit if near the area xx
Lovely place to take a walk on the weekend and watch the birds on the lake. The missing thing on the site is a map with the footpaths or walking signs. Very well maintained and with a good parking lot.
My first visit to this reclaimed Sand quarry, now managed by the Lincolnshire wildlife trust. The car park is just a short drive along a track from the gated entrance, not that obvious and easy to miss. Looking at Google/OS maps this is a large site with a variety of habitats. I would like to have given 5 stars for this location but the interpretation boards offer little actual information. A map of the site with indicated routes would have helped familiarise and choose a path, what to look out for etc. We visited two hides, the second one having fairly close views across a small island packed with gulls, shoveller, shell duck and other waders. We're planning to visit again soon as there's at least the same area yet to explore.
What a beautiful place. Such a lovely place to go for a walk and be at one with nature.
A lovely place but it's not the same as it used to be,like many others we used to enjoy watching the birds feed in the car park until the feeder's were took away spoiling it for many.
Great spot, would of been 5 stars but needs more management to clear some areas over grown limiting where you can see.
Good for kids
