Standard gauge railway museum with Victorian rolling stock, steam train rides, a shop & an ale bar.
A great day at the O gauge model event with numerous trips up and down the line. A railway with character, super friendly staff. A great bar located in a carriage, a lovely cafe with great offerings. All in pleasant surroundings.
Great time at middi today. Great to hear about the line extension being completed just waiting for that footpath permission being signed off looking forward to extension opening soon hopefully 2025 . New loco on loan smashing . The loco,'s in the shed are progressing on a pace the people working on them are really knowledgable and great to answer questions . Tea room lovely and a real ale bar as well . Really enjoy my visits here
Wonderful new year's day here, riding on the train, being entertained by a fantastic mandolin player in the bar made from a converted carriage. Free mince pies appeared too and were offered to all. We were given a tour of the footplate by the friendly volunteers, saw a vintage lamp display and had a marvellous time. What a lovely, friendly place.
A very little gem of restored railway which I understand the track is soon to be extended. We'll worth a visit they have the train going up and down the track through regular times of the day you can sit in any coach from first class to 3rd class there is a little museum so you can learn about the railway and because when we visited it was still very hot and ground very dry they had already decided not to run the steam train cos it could start a wild fire. They ran the diesel train instead. My 3yr old Nephew loved it and even my 13yr old had a grin on his face. We had tea and cake in the little tea room and my brother in law tried the local ale serve from a old restored carriage that sits down towards the garage. Well worth a visit.
Lovely little afternoon out. Train ride was wonderful, great Easter hunt. Lovely cafe with cakes and sausage rolls. Entry is really fairly pricey as there is not much to see/do. We won't visit again due to the cost, which is a shame as it's nice for a few hours.
My partner and I went to the 'Middys in the 40s' event and it was great fun. Lovely to see so many people dressed up in their 40's outfits and with some comedy from 'Dad's Army' and music from Sarah Mai, it was a lovely afternoon. The staff/volunteers were lovely ... there may just need to be some adjustments made as to how they run the tea rooms on event days like this as it was a slow process but the staff were working very hard and luckily the customers were all patient.
