Museum of local history including pre-historic fossils, Roman silverware and an old penny farthing.
Excellent, truly Excellent. Lady at the reception was most chatty and helpful. She was very knowledgeable on the exhibits. I had visited many years ago, a massive massive improvement since my last visit. Very well laid out, well presented. Thoroughly recommend giving this museum a look. Well worth the time.
Had a very pleasant experience during our stay in mildenhall. The two charming ladies at the reception made us feel very welcome and eager to let us know about the museum and the famous treasure! We'll definitely recommend this to anyone visiting and also for kids as there are some things that they can have hands-on experience with. During our visit, there were a couple of kids who thoroughly enjoyed it.
AMAZINGLY its FREE to all ! What a fantastic little gold mine of treasures. I highly Recommend to go Upstairs and view all the Roman finds and the Lakenheath warrior. A modern, well planned layout, with some interactive activities. Very Disability friendly with automatic door at entrance, with a new state of the art lift. I spent well over an hour looking round, anyone who is into suffolk history archaeology would be amazed. If there where seating and small cafe here I could of easily spent 2 hours and gone round twice. I gladly left a donation.
Lovely place and the kids had a great time, except for the two rude old ladies at the front desk, whom shouted at the kids the moment we walked in because they were touching the toys that where for sale at the front door. They could only touch the toy if we were buying it! Seriously iv never heard of that. Not a very nice welcoming or first impression!!!!
Great little museum. The amount that is packed into a small space is brilliant. Very interactive for younger children.
Just walked by and had a look out of curiosity. It's small but interactive. You can tell that they put a lot of effort and love into this place and I'm pretty sure that the building itself has some history too. The items are all local and the staff is very sweet. Admissions are free but donations of any amounts are welcome. I enjoyed learning a bit about the Mildenhall history!
