A tranquil oasis in the heart of the countryside, Mill Meadows is a picturesque destination featuring lush greenery, serene lakes, and winding walking trails. This former quarry site has been beautifully restored, showcasing its industrial heritage through preserved machinery and buildings. Visitors can unwind with a leisurely stroll, enjoy a picnic, or explore the surrounding woodland, teeming with local wildlife.
Henley mill meadows located near Henley train station short walk from Henley town centre. Mill meadows has huge car park. Pay and display from Mon-Sunday 9am to 7pm. It has two small playgrounds for children where the can enjoy different activities. It has big grounds for picnic and families to sit along the river.
If you can rise early and get down here before 7 in the morning it's a different experience. You don't have to pay for the car park until 9 o'clock and you'll have a choice of where to park. Walking in either direction is rewarding. Walk towards the bridge to stay close to the town or head the other direction towards Shiplake away from the heart of Henley. There are dog walkers, runners and the rowing club may have rowers out on the river. The boats moored overnight will have occupants rising and making breakfast. Swans make the most of the lack of river traffic. At 9 o'clock you choose whether to pay to continue your stay or move on. Its a shame to leave Henley without visiting the town. Later in the day this area gets very busy and on occasions it is difficult to find a parking space. I used to live near here and I have moored a boat here in the past but this review is based on a recent return visit. I was amazed how popular it was. All the facilities are here playgrounds, toilets, picnic areas, benches and easy walking. With or without dogs. There's s cafe on site and boat hire. Boat trips are plentiful. Every thing is kept to a reasonable standard.
Had a lovely day on the river cruising up and down relaxing to the sound of the boat chugging along on the water with the birds quacking and tweeting away. Some pretty big houses and some lovely little boats spotted on the way along the locks. Can't fault the boat company and their service was fantastic. A lovely way to spend a few hours of relaxation.
Today me and my family are going this place and thus place is so beautiful just because of nature.. greenery and there is also some activities for children's...we eat there and people are coming there for fun.. family booked a boat even celebrate there marriage as well on boats..also huts are available on rent...so beautiful place..
Last month I went to Mill Meadows, and my word what an amazing place to go for a walk in the sunshine! The peaceful scenery surrounding nature and the array of colourful riverboats are just sensational. There are plenty of benches around, plus there's a cafe and toilets located next to the car park.
A beautiful place for a day out. We had a great picnic in the meadows on the banks of Thames. Unfortunately it was hot and crowded and we couldn't find a boat to hire. So we rather walked along the river for a couple of miles and reached marsh meadows across the wooden bridge. I would have given the place a solid 5 star but for the toilets. Almost every public convenience was shut after 5:00. So, if you are staying beyond 5:00 which is the case for most of the people in summer then you are out of luck. After exploring a bit, I found a filthy toilet within a car pak near the town centre.
