A bronze statue of a miner in working gear, kneeling on one knee and testing for gas with a Davy lamp, commemorating the region's mining heritage.
Great walk up silver hill and amazing view - especially at sunset. Ducks nearby are super confident and will eat out of your hand!
Stunning scenery. A fantastic walk
Apparently, this is the highest spot in Nottinghamshire, regardless of this anecdote the statue is excellent. In fact, the whole walking trail leading up to the testing for gas miner statue is very nice with well maintained pathways. You can just about see Hardwick Hall in the far, far distance from this point too. Well worth the effort to get there.
