A serene and picturesque spot, Moat Pond is a tranquil oasis surrounded by lush greenery and vibrant flowers. The pond's calm waters reflect the beauty of the surrounding landscape, creating a sense of symmetry and harmony. Visitors can stroll along the winding paths, taking in the sights and sounds of nature, or sit on a bench and enjoy a peaceful moment of contemplation.
Peaceful pond surrounded by trees, with access to the extensive Thursley nature reserve on the boardwalk. Lovely reflections on the water in the evening light. Good signposting and plenty of plant life to see, with sundews, cotton grass and orchids all growing by the boardwalk. Superb colour on the surrounding heath when the heather is in bloom in late summer. There's a reasonable size parking area by the pond, and following the boardwalk all the way around takes about 40 minutes, stopping to look at the wildlife on the way, particularly the wide variety of dragonflies. Great place for dog walks.
A very nice countryside walk quite close to the town. There is a stunning golden grassland reminds me the scene of a well known Japanese anime "Feng Zhi Gu ".
Absolutely my favourite spot for walking. Sadly this lovely place had a big fire a few years ago. But now it almost recovered. New paths installed. Nature takes a lot of time to recover of course, but love it here. Its huge!
Beautiful walk, we saw and heard buzzards flying over.. amazing ! A whole array of wildlife, we followed the dragon fly trail and had the pleasure of a beautiful dragonfly landing just next to us. The boardwalk is fab, felt like we were a million miles away. My new go to to clear my mind, be present and escape with my thoughts.
We used the Moat pond car park when we visited the Thursley National Nature Reserve. The whole reserve is amazing and we'll definitely visit again. We watched the sunset at Moat Pond and listened to the sound of nature. A very pleasant, serene winter evening.
Haven't been here for over 20 years! Not much has changed except the trees are taller (and me probably smaller ). Some of the paths running along the valley bottoms are shut, which is a bit annoying. I think it's because the water level is too high. Will have to come back in Summer to see. I do remember more raised walkways than there were today, but that may just be because of the route we took. Big free car park by the lake and the possibility of circular walks, which is always a plus.
