A picturesque beach with soft white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water, surrounded by rugged cliffs and scenic coastal paths, perfect for walking and hiking.
I thought this beach was OK. Its not very pretty or picturesque. The water is still clear and there is sand at the back of the beach. There's a big pipe leading out to sea which for me just gives sewage vibes. There is a road right next to it so easy parking and a set of wooden steps down.
What a lovely little beach! Large car park with plenty of disabled parking bays and only a short walk along the public footpath to reach the access to the beach.this access is a few steps so not good for wheelchair users (I don't know if there are any other places to access the beach). Dogs are allowed on to the beach so was busy with families. Lovely clean beach and water. But I have had to remove a star from my review for 2 reasons which made my heart sink, firstly at the back of the beach by the steps on the way out there was an area of dog poo , I could not understand why those dog owners failed to pick up after there dog, literally on the way out where there is a dog bin!' Secondly! I was very concerned to see that there was a rather large pipe running down the beach and into the water!!! Considering the clear water and clean beach I am hoping that it was not a sewage pipe
Beautiful View with relaxing wind Must visit this place it's full of natural Beautiful and mind relaxing place
Haven't visited for a long time since the asbestos clean up (I hope the caught and prosecuted those responsible). I had forgotten how beautiful the views are and how easy and accessible the beach is (at least this sunny Sunday afternoon). The youngest thoroughly enjoyed playing on the beach. Will be back for sure, as thankfully still dog friendly, so have someone else at home who's be keen to visit. EAs a great way to get outside for an hour! There is a cafe and proper car park nearby though didn't use either as lots of street parking and came with snacks.
Used to live close by in Turnchapel. Always thought this rocky-stony beach was underused. Its now becoming more frequented by families. Access is OK with decent parking (free). The steps are steep for anyone who has mobility problems and access to the water is partly restricted by rocks. South facing with good views across the sound. Plenty of boatyards adjacent and some cafes/shops and art businesses beginning to establish themselves. Good pubs in Turnchapel and at Mountbatten all walkable, as is the Mountbatten breakwater. Its popular with canoeists. Can get impressively stormy in winter. As you can see from the pic - fun for dogs!
It's a shame there's no reviews to this beach! I found it accidentally while actually looking for another beach which I didn't find lol. It's a lovely place to walk or relax with friends/family or by yourself! As I walked past houses to get to the beach, on the other side of the road was a great view of boats and Plymouth! So go here and enjoy the view! There was also a massive grey cloud which I thought looked pretty cool tbh!
Wheelchair-accessible entrance
Good for kids
