This 17th-century cottage is a charming example of traditional English rural architecture, featuring a rustic stone exterior, a thatched roof, and a delightful garden filled with colorful flowers and herbs. The cottage's interior showcases a collection of antique furniture and artifacts, offering a glimpse into the lives of its former occupants, including Mrs. Smith herself.
Great experience. A step back in time to see how people lived in years gone by. Staff were lovely and friendly and enthusiastic about the house and Mrs Smith. Pretty little garden. I liked the displays in the visitor/learning centre about excursions and trips mrs Smith had been on .
We decided to visit today. It was extremely interesting. The volunteers were very knowledgeable, Katie was really good. How Mrs Smith got up those ladders I do not know! I managed one set. Difficult. She was still climbing at age 102. It was lovely to see things I had as a youngster, such as chippy mats, flat irons. The flower garden is well maintained.
Excellent little museum with a heartwarming story of a sweet but determined owner. If not for her determination the cottage would not exist as it does. Thanks to the village who loved her and the volunteers who passionately preserve and tell her story, her determination continues and this beautiful little gem of museum exists today. Wonderful story, wonderful staff and absolute gem of a museum. My only concern, they don't charge enough for an excellent venue, experience and story. Wonderful visit and children will love it.
Lovely quaint cottage, much as it was since Mrs Smith was younger. Very helpful volunteers, gave you plenty of time to look round, no rushing you. We were amazed that Mrs Smith could climb the ladder at 102, even carrying a tv set! Well worth a visit.
Excellent insight into Mrs Smith's life and times Very helpful staff. Well worth visiting!
Such a lovely place to visit. The history of the house is amazing and to hear about Mrs Smiths life was so interesting. The tour guide was brilliant and the price for entry was very cheap.
