The Muckleburgh Collection is a military museum sited on a former military camp at Weybourne, on the North Norfolk coast, England. It was opened to the public in 1988 and is the largest privately owned military museum in the United Kingdom
WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE. We have visited many military collections across the country and this one has to be one the best we have visited. The collection of vehicles is fantastic, as to is the collection of weapons and big guns and missiles. The model collection really amazed me and after dinner I went back round to take another look as you can't take it all in with one pass. There is something around every corner and it's all fab. Then there is the truck ride around the grounds with an audio tour to go along giving you the history of the grounds (former base) and how it's used today. We ere privileged to witness the local police dog training on the grounds at our visit which was an added bonus. The cafe is top notch, reasonably priced with a wide selection for everyone and the food is excellent. There is even more to look at whilst having lunch with items displayed and a wonderful mural depicting various scenes of military history, or if you want to enjoy the views across the sea while having something to eat then you can take to the picnic and outside seating area. All in all, a brilliant and memorable afternoon out and definitely somewhere to visit again. Highly recommended.
A nice little museum situated just off the coast in a old artillery barracks. You can see more of the site by paying a little extra for an army truck ride around the site. A nice variety of vehicles / weapons to see. They are unfortunately in most cases quite tightly packed in so taking memorable photos next to the exhibits is not always possible. Being old I would have liked to have been able to purchase a proper guide book showing pictures of the exhibits with detailed descriptions etc. These make fantastic souvenirs to look back on in years to come. The cafe was a pleasant surprise, as all to often in places like this the food is not always great. The food here was freshly cooked, delivered to our table and at a good price. My son loved his hot dog, he gave it the thumbs up. Overall my young son and I had an enjoyable couple of hours at a reasonable price. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Having a lazy Sunday in Norfolk, we'd seen advertisements for The Collection, so we thought we'd have a look. Even from the car park there were some interesting exhibits. Once inside, there was a fascinating display dedicated to the history of the site, followed by the history of the local regiments. There were then a couple of rooms dedicated to small arms. The large halls contained well restored equipment, ranging from first world war horse drawn artillery, anti aircraft guns (including the German Flak 37) to cold war ground to air missiles. The tank halls had many interesting pieces, including a Sherman, Russian T34, many British main battle tanks, even a bridge laying T55. We had a trip around the site on the back of an old army lorry (PS3, well worth it) it was bumpy, but fun. Top tip, sit at the very back of the lorry so you can see both sides of the vehicle, as you are strapped in and can't turn around to see the other side. We had lunch in the cafe, which was good food, and reasonably priced.
Great museum situated just off the coast in a old artillery barracks. Plenty of vehicles to see but difficult to photograph them as they were so packed together. It would have been good if some were outside . Still a enjoyable couple of hours at a reasonable price.
Had a brilliant couple of hours at this museum. Very clean and tidy, well laid out and informative. You could spend half a day here easily. Very quiet on a Thursday but that gives you more time to read the information and go at your own pace. Only minor gripe would be the background music which was not for me.
A very well laid out museum, there are some very impressive model collections! The models pale into the background when you start reading the history and view the vehicles. There is something for every era of veterans or civilian, no matter who they served with or where they served. The cafe is great too. You can have a ride in a 432 as the driver and there is a Bedford for trips around the tank tracks with the sea as the backdrop. All in all a very good day out, the entrance fee is far too low in my opinion and I'm from Yorkshire!!
