A 19th-century tower monument dedicated to Lord Mansfield, situated on a hilltop in the Scottish Borders, offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
Tough walk in trainers and the last bit is a little steep so I wouldn't give it a go when it's been wet but as it's a short walk (0.25m from the car park at the bottom), definitely worthwhile and the views on the way up and back down are great!
Breathtaking views of the Galloway hills! Including Cairnsmore, Perfect walk for all families! Close to other Tourist attractions and the town of Newton Stewart
Enjoyed a nice little walk up here with the kids and dogs. It's only half a mile or so, although it is steep, especially at the top. The views are definitely worth it though, and there are other walks that can be accessed from the car park. The car park itself was very busy and it is small, so we parked in the layby next to it with no problems.
Steep walk up to the monument but the views at the top are definitely worth it. Did it with my two kids (youngest 4) so its fine, but a bit rocky at the top. Would not recommend pushchairs etc. Just a few mins down the road from the Red Deer Range too.
Beautiful walk in stunning scenery. There's wild goats, red deer. Some great mountain biking routes. A nice drive to boot
Awesome views in my opinion, beautiful valley with awesome autumn colours in full flow. Plenty to see around in all directions
Good for kids
