Berkshire's dynamic contribution to aviation history is graphically recaptured at the museum. Run as a charitable trust, the museum is at the historic site of Woodley Airfield, near Reading, U.K. - once the centre of a thriving aircraft industry. Miles and Handley Page aircraft built at Woodley are being re-constructed and exhibited along with fascinating pictorial records and priceless archives.
Great museum with friendly engaging, knowledgeable staff. Although cramped and crammed with exhibits, well worth the visit and take time to visit. Allow time to either read and look at the exhibits or engage with the knowledgeable staff. Entrance price is ridiculously cheap for what is on show! Do make more donations in the appropriate box at the museum or spend money on drinks etc. Small cafe space with drinks and snacks available. Some items available for purchase to help the museum. Toilet is available and most of the museum is accessible to wheelchairs, infirm or pushchairs.
Fab little museum. Dedicated, friendly, caring & knowledgeable volunteers answer any questions you have. Small fee for entry. Small car park, but Neighborhood parking nearby. Refreshments and toilets available. Recommended
FANTASTIC experience today, the volunteers are a real asset to the museum. They spent a considerable amount of time explaining the exhibits and the local history. I took my 4 year old, wow, we couldn't get her out of the place. We did the teddy bear trail searching for teddys hidden in the planes, she loved it we had to do the same trail 3 times! Lots to see and do! Thank you for a great experience
Great place to visit surrounded by the beautiful Dinton Pastures country park. A very kind and knowledgeable Gentleman came out to greet us, and then explained the history of many exhibits. He then supervised and instructed a sit-down in the helicopter pilot's seat! It's not the largest museum, but it feels like it's curated by a family with a very personal and warm feel.
A unique and fascinating collection housed in an historically correct location. The museum volunteers are knowledgeable and keen to guide. A very reasonable entry fee, recommended.
