Old machinery, vats, glassware and advertising plus art gallery, cafe and shop in old cider factory.
I spotted this on a map as I was looking for ideas for a day out with my adult son. It's a couple of hours on the train and absolutely worth the time it took to get there. We spent just over an hour at the museum. The people there are so friendly. The museum itself has a lot to offer, including some history of cider making and of the Bulmer family. We very much enjoyed our time there. There is also a shop at the entrance/exit where you can sample some ciders and purchase from the wide selection on offer. There are toilets (including disabled) and a cafe (we had a lovely cup of tea - pot of tea for 2 was PS4). Accessibility isn't the best as there are stairs and some narrow spaces. However, there are concession prices that take into account if visitors are unable to fully enjoy all parts of the museum.
Historically interesting, so many things I didn't expect to see. I would have liked more tasting, a bar on site would be great.
Great museum. Free parking. Learn a lot about cider making. It's interactive, so amusing as well. The cellar visit put you in the atmosphere of how things used to be made. Lots of pics. Very interesting. Spend 2 hours there. Very good selection of local ciders in the shop. Bought a couple of interesting bottles and I can't wait to get home to try them. Disappointed by the cafe tho, only tea and cake on that day. So we went to have lunch somewhere else. The staff are all volunteers so, please leave a donation on the way out or little places like this informative museum won't survive much . It would be a shame. Xx
Great museum with lots of displays and a preserved underground bottle room. Old presses, traveling mills, vintage posters and advertisements, Pomona watercolors, and lots of bottles to buy. I spent about 3 hours here stopping in every exhibit and it was a day well spent.
Pleasantly surprised by this place. Very informative and the staff were very friendly and engaging. The history was very interesting, and there was a little film that took you through the history of where the invention of cider came from, and even learned that Bulmers factory originated from Hereford. Great little activities for the kids to do, and you get to have a taste test of the cider, along with the apple juice for the kids to try. Definitely recommend.
Great museum packed full of information and displays showing the history of cider making, particularly around Hereford. Of course no visit would be complete without buying some Cider from the shop.
