Kid-friendly museum featuring exhibits & displays on local history, with archives & a play area.
Great place to visit, fascinating displays and staff knowledgeable about the history of the area and the former owners of the house. The museum is located in a lovely setting and parking is available right outside, although we parked at the co op and walked down the short distance.
Absolutely fascinating place and John the guide made the exhibitions come alive with his extensive local knowledge. We would really recommend a visit
This is an excellent museum with plenty memorabilia from yesteryear. On entrance you are given a warm welcome and are given a small guide of what you can expect to see. The museum is run entirely by volunteers and they have obviously spent a considerable time in making it an interesting place to visit. The military room is quite something with various medals to see, it also tells the story of some of Nairn's war heroes. I was also interested in the archive photo collection they are putting together. I was here for about an hour but I could have spent much more time. The museum is open April until October. There is a small entrance fee, parking is free and there are facilities but no tea room.
Although closed for refurb, definitely looking forward to seeing it in full. Super history of Nairn. Visit if your near, very worthwhile
This museum is very comprehensive and covers many aspects of the area. Beautifully displayed, set out into different rooms. A play room for children is open too. Staff very friendly. It was lovely talking to a volunteer who was actually on some of the school photos, so was able to tell a few tales!!!Well worth entrance fee of PS3 each for concession. Staff were just sitting down to a cuppa but left it to go cold to come and talk to us.
This should be your first stop in Nairn. The volunteers are part of the history of the town. The building is full of historic items from the area along with information about local castles. The entry fee is PS4 for adults, PS3 for seniors.
