Nant Mill and Bersham Waterfall is a scenic spot featuring a picturesque waterfall and an old mill building surrounded by lush greenery and walking trails. The waterfall cascades down a rocky slope, creating a misty veil that rises into the air, while the mill stands as a testament to the area's industrial past. Visitors can explore the mill, walk behind the waterfall, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of the surrounding countryside.
From Nant Mill to Bersham waterfall the distance is .7 of a mile. The walk was a 25 minute stroll. Signage is not good at the car park (head right when facing the disused visitor centre). Disabled badge holders get free parking but there are very limited spaces. Picnic tables are just over the wall from the car park but refuse bins were overflowing when we arrived late morning. The walk in the forest was obstructed by felled trees across the path and involved a road crossing and a forest track with undulations. This is ancient woodland. It's possible to follow the river but there are dangers of fallen trees plus the river could be in strong flow. There were a few people paddling and sitting in the water enjoying the location. There were lots of dogs, dog walkers and children. Stepping stones are a few metres up the river from the falls.
How to get to the waterfall: park at the Nant Mill visitor centre (which is permanently closed, but the parking lot is still there and costs 1 pound for the whole day), then with the picnic area on your right, walk up the road until you see a stone bridge on your right, and a turnstile on your left just before. Go through the turnstile and follow the path. You'll pass a wooden carved caterpillar and stag beetle. Keep going, don't cross the stream, and you'll soon see the waterfall. Total walk time is about 10 minutes. For variation, on the way back, you could cross the stream using a small bridge, and follow the path on the opposite side (keeping the stream on your right), which leads you back over the stone bridge you saw before.
