This 17th-century timber-framed house features ornate plaster ceilings, wooden panelling, and period furnishings, showcasing the lifestyle of a wealthy family during the Stuart period. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens, including a herb garden, a sensory garden, and a woodland walk, which provide a peaceful oasis in the heart of the town.
Beautiful place! Very interesting and the gardens are absolutely gorgeous. Could spend the day there. Would definitely visit again
We had the pleasure of photograph a styled wedding. The venue is absolutely stunning. The gardens are very beautiful and well looked after. There is so many beautiful places to showcase your wedding day. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend the venue for a wedding.
Agree with all the other positive reviews, it's a great place to visit and much bigger than when viewed outside. Lots of interactive activities for little ones, accessible entrance, really friendly staff and plenty to read and listen to for not much money. Garden is lovely too, you can even hear the peacocks from the castle just over the way. Highly recommend a visit.
Excellent period property and nice gardens. Well worth a visit.
House is brilliant. Self serve tea and coffee and comfy chairs to sit in! Each room of the house depicts a different part of its history through 700 years or so. Gardens are beautiful well worth taking a picnic lunch. There is a steep incline from both town car parks we found to walk up. House and gardens well worth a visit@
